First for Forums
Its been great to get the forums off the ground in the last week. All forums have met and are beginning to evaluate different areas of our church family life and see how God might lead us forward in the future. We are a busy church but blessed with many willing and able volunteers to make everything possible.
The forums are about mobilising the maximum number of volunteers for works of service in the church and community. However, they are also about developing a sense of ownership and responsibility for the work of the church as well as broadening the prayer cover for activities, leaders and volunteers. We want to reach more people with the good news of Jesus but also, and very importantly, increase the effectiveness of everything we are already doing. I was reminded today of Moses’ role in the battle Israel waged with the Amalekites. The army was led by Joshua but Moses was on a hill with his arms raised to God. Whilst his arms were raised Israel were in the ascendency, but as his arms grew tired they were in danger of being overcome.
If you have not signed up for a forum because you are not able to volunteer, please be assured that we need plenty of arms raised on the behalf of those who are actively serving. Following the forums there will be brief reports from each forum and you could use those to fuel your prayers as we seek God’s kingdom to come ‘on earth as it is in heaven’.
