Dear church family,

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that we will be suspending all church services and events for the time being. Although scripture is clear that we must not give up meeting together, we also have a duty to love our neighbours and to be socially responsible in the wake of Covid-19.

As we begin to think through what it will look like for us to support one another as a scattered church, it is worth reflecting on two fundamental truths:

Firstly, the Coronavirus is a constant reminder of our frailty and dependence. Every breath we have is a gift from a generous God and we are given daily reminders of our mortality in the press coverage. Let’s strive to make the most of the days ahead as we seek to love one another and our neighbours as we wait for Jesus to return.

Secondly, the promises of God remain as true as ever. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. This has not caught the one who holds eternity in his hands unaware. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though they die.” There is no safer refuge from this virus than Jesus Christ. Let us hold on to him, cry out to him in prayer and hold out his promises to those we know and love.

Although we cannot physically meet together, during these days we will be hosting live times of worship on a Sunday morning at 10am, which will be available on our Facebook page (All Saints’ Church Eastbourne) and will be available through this page.  We will also be providing links to worship songs and prayer through our Facebook page.

If you feel isolated, please contact us through the office telephone number.  We can support you through prayer, a telephone call, or even collecting groceries or prescriptions for you.

Please be assured that we are praying for our church family, for Eastbourne and for the country.

Yours in Christ,

Robert Lovatt and Jon Haines
